Hello, my name is Jenna Snortheim and I am currently serving as the 2019 Central Wisconsin State Fair Fairest of the Fair. The Central Wisconsin State Fair has provided me with some of the best opportunities. Since I started showing in Little Britches, I have been exhibiting projects and showing lambs. My start in the fair has been provided by how much of a family affair the fair is, it is that last bang before school begins again.
I began my fair experience in 2006 as a 5 year old showing a jersey calf in Little Britches. Then in 2008 I began a member of the Kountry Kids 4-H and have been showing lambs and projects through that organization since. Some of the projects that I am involved in include Arts and Crafts, Foods and Nutrition, Photography, Home Environment, Child Care, Clothing, Aerospace, Woodworking, Sheep, Natural Science, Computers, Plant and Soil Science and Youth Leadership. In 2013 I joined the Market Animal Sale project, that project has left a lifelong impression on me and it amazes me how much of our local community wants to support youth and their success. In 2013, I became a member of the Auburndale FFA. Where I found my passion for agriculture was extremely prominent and how much I wanted to help educate the future generation. Through organizations like 4-H and FFA, I have traveled the United State on multiple different trips. I have met so many people and made so many friends through these organizations, I can’t wait to see where my preparation in these organizations will take me. Serving as the Fairest of the Fair I hope to share my passion with youth and adults. I hope to share why the fair is so important for the youth and the community.
In May 2019, I graduated from Auburndale High School where I was very involved in after school activities. I was an active member in FFA, forensics, band, jazz band, National Honors Society, and softball. In the community I am very involved through my participation in community service activities which include working at church where I serve, read, help with church dinners and play tone chimes. I also help with Wood Country Farm Technology Days 2018, where I was an active member on the Future Generations Tent Committee and the Ground Committee. In the Fall of 2019 I will be attending the University of Wisconsin River Falls to obtain a degree in Agriculture Education. I hope to come back to Central Wisconsin to educate youth around the area. In May 2019 I was crowned the Central Wisconsin State Fair Fairest of the Fair. The experience was unlike no other. Being crowned the Central Wisconsin State Fair Fairest of the Fair make me the first person to be crowned both the Fairest and Jr. Fairest of the Fair, which is an honor on its own. Without the encouragement of the 2017 Central Wisconsin State Fair Fairest of the Fair and partner in crime in my fair adventure, Alysha Bauer and the one person who encouraged me to start on this journey the first time Kenni Bores. That moment just before your know the results is so nerve wracking but worth the wait.
Since being crowned I have been very involved getting the community excited about the fair, attended daily breakfast, and parades. Being involved in all these community relations makes my so happy on how much wearing a crown makes a young child’s eyes light up and makes their day. My favorite part of being Fairest is yet to come, the craziness and joy of fair week. Finally putting on the sash and crown means so much to me because it reminds me of the role model I am being to people and the role models that came before me.
The best part is yet to come: the 2019 Central Wisconsin State Fair August 20-25th. With all the ingredients to cure your summer blues which include great food, amazing rides, fantastic entertainment, the World’s Largest Round Barn, marvelous agriculture, and fun for all ages. I am excited for the grandstand entertainment line-up this year which includes Vic Ferrari, Jacob Bryant, The Kentucky HeadHunters, Smash Mouth, All Star Monster Trucks, and 1Goose Promotions Demolition Derby. I would encourage everyone to come attend this great community foundation. Thank you to all the sponsors that help make the fair possible and to all the fare goes to help the fair succeed.
Mark you calendars for August 20th-25th for an amazing week of amazing food, fantastic entertainment, and marvelous agriculture for all ages. Experience the Fair!
