2019 Fairest of the Fair

Jenna Snortheim

Jenna Snortheim

Hello, my name is Jenna Snortheim and I am currently serving as the 2019 Central Wisconsin State Fair Fairest of the Fair. The Central Wisconsin State Fair has provided me with some of the best opportunities. Since I started showing in Little Britches, I have been exhibiting projects and showing lambs. My start in the fair has been provided by how much of a family affair the fair is, it is that last bang before school begins again.

I began my fair experience in 2006 as a 5 year old showing a jersey calf in Little Britches. Then in 2008 I began a member of the Kountry Kids 4-H and have been showing lambs and projects through that organization since. Some of the projects that I am involved in include Arts and Crafts, Foods and Nutrition, Photography, Home Environment, Child Care, Clothing, Aerospace, Woodworking, Sheep, Natural Science, Computers, Plant and Soil Science and Youth Leadership. In 2013 I joined the Market Animal Sale project, that project has left a lifelong impression on me and it amazes me how much of our local community wants to support youth and their success. In 2013, I became a member of the Auburndale FFA. Where I found my passion for agriculture was extremely prominent and how much I wanted to help educate the future generation. Through organizations like 4-H and FFA, I have traveled the United State on multiple different trips. I have met so many people and made so many friends through these organizations, I can’t wait to see where my preparation in these organizations will take me. Serving as the Fairest of the Fair I hope to share my passion with youth and adults. I hope to share why the fair is so important for the youth and the community.

In May 2019, I graduated from Auburndale High School where I was very involved in after school activities. I was an active member in FFA, forensics, band, jazz band, National Honors Society, and softball. In the community I am very involved through my participation in community service activities which include working at church where I serve, read, help with church dinners and play tone chimes. I also help with Wood Country Farm Technology Days 2018, where I was an active member on the Future Generations Tent Committee and the Ground Committee. In the Fall of 2019 I will be attending the University of Wisconsin River Falls to obtain a degree in Agriculture Education. I hope to come back to Central Wisconsin to educate youth around the area. In May 2019 I was crowned the Central Wisconsin State Fair Fairest of the Fair. The experience was unlike no other. Being crowned the Central Wisconsin State Fair Fairest of the Fair make me the first person to be crowned both the Fairest and Jr. Fairest of the Fair, which is an honor on its own. Without the encouragement of the 2017 Central Wisconsin State Fair Fairest of the Fair and partner in crime in my fair adventure, Alysha Bauer and the one person who encouraged me to start on this journey the first time Kenni Bores. That moment just before your know the results is so nerve wracking but worth the wait.

Since being crowned I have been very involved getting the community excited about the fair, attended daily breakfast, and parades. Being involved in all these community relations makes my so happy on how much wearing a crown makes a young child’s eyes light up and makes their day. My favorite part of being Fairest is yet to come, the craziness and joy of fair week. Finally putting on the sash and crown means so much to me because it reminds me of the role model I am being to people and the role models that came before me.

The best part is yet to come: the 2019 Central Wisconsin State Fair August 20-25th. With all the ingredients to cure your summer blues which include great food, amazing rides, fantastic entertainment, the World’s Largest Round Barn, marvelous agriculture, and fun for all ages. I am excited for the grandstand entertainment line-up this year which includes Vic Ferrari, Jacob Bryant, The Kentucky HeadHunters, Smash Mouth, All Star Monster Trucks, and 1Goose Promotions Demolition Derby. I would encourage everyone to come attend this great community foundation. Thank you to all the sponsors that help make the fair possible and to all the fare goes to help the fair succeed.

Mark you calendars for August 20th-25th for an amazing week of amazing food, fantastic entertainment, and marvelous agriculture for all ages. Experience the Fair!

Natalee Jensen

Natalee Jensen

Hello, my name is Natalee Jensen and I am currently serving as your 2019 Central Wisconsin State Fair Fairest of The Fair Attendant. The Central Wisconsin State Fair has given me many memories since I started showing rabbits in 2013. I Have been exhibiting at the fair ever since. I began showing at the fair in 2013, that year I was amazed with all the different things you could do at the fair. I took rabbits and a lot of crafts. That was the year I won Grand Champion with my Netherland Dwarf rabbit. I continued taking crafts, but after a few years of showing rabbits I wanted something different. So at the Fair in 2016 I got involved in the market sale showing market hogs. Showing in the market sale has taught me many life skills, like how to raise a market animal, and keep track of costs. Some of the crafts I do are: leathercraft, ceramics, flowers, vegetables, and photography. I have been an active member in my 4-H club for 7 years. I have held every officer position. I am currently on my second term as President. In 2015 I became involved in the Spencer FFA chapter. FFA and 4-H have taught me a lot about agriculture. My FFA advisor Mr. Zimmerman and one of my 4-H leaders Jana Sternweis were the people who pushed me to run for Fairest of The Fair. I work at Mara Wood Farms, working here really made my love for agriculture grow. I work mainly in the biosecure calf barn. In the calf barn I treat calves and help feed them. In the past few weeks I have started helping our breeder Doug Lehman, mainly just helping him with the paperwork and finding the cows. I help out with pretty much everything on the farm. Through working here I have discovered I love being in the dairy industry and I hope to go on to school for dairy science after I graduate in May of 2020. This summer has been full of Dairy Breakfasts and parades. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the 2019 Central Wisconsin State Fair! The fair dates are August 20-25. Come and “Experience the Fair”.

2019 Junior Fairest Attendant

Rainna Simone

Rainna Simone

My name is Rainna Simone, and I currently serve as the 2019 Jr. Fairest of the Fair Attendant. I currently attend the Marshfield High School as a Junior. My plan after high school is to further continue my education at the UW of River Falls studying pre-veterinary medicine. I am involved in many youth organizations which include Golden Glow 4-H, Marshfield FFA, and Wood County Junior Holsteins. I am currently the President, the Historian, and the Vice President in order of those three clubs. It is through those clubs that I found my love for the fair. I have been an exhibitor at the Central Wisconsin State Fair since I was 3 years old when I participated in Little Britches Show. Throughout my years of attending and exhibiting at the fair, I have made countless memories and learned many new things.
My favorite memory of the fair was placing first in Dairy Showmanship. The judge originally placed me in what seemed like last place, but I continued to try my hardest. He purposely placed the group backwards because he was testing me to see if I would give up. In the end I was actually placed me first. That judge taught me a very big lesson that I still keep with me today. Even though things seem tough just push through and you will be rewarded for you persistence.
I decided to run for Jr. Fairest of the Fair because I wanted to be a role model to young individuals. I want to show them magic the of the fair and share with them how much my participation in fair has taught me. I want others to have that same opportunity that I had. By being one of the fairest I can lead by example and show others how important the fair is to me and our community. With this goal in mind, I personally believe the fair will flourish and make a positive impact on our community.
