MARSHFIELD — New Central Wisconsin State Fair Director Dale Christiansen is a Merrill native with a long history in the fair industry.
“I’ve been with the Lincoln County Fair up in Merrill for 23 years,” said Christiansen. “I’ve been serving on their board. I’ve served as president for 15 years and manager for 12.”
In addition, Christiansen has been a District One director for the state fair board the past six years, serving two years as vice president and two years as president.
“I heard about (the Central Wisconsin State Fair job) through the grapevine, through some mutual friends who have been very involved in the fairground here, and they had mentioned it to me,” said Christiansen. “I was interested, and I kind of reached out for it.”
Christiansen had attended the Central Wisconsin State Fair numerous times in the past and was drawn to the event’s size and scope.
“One of the main things that interested me in the position is the position I held in Lincoln County was a volunteer position, and I always wanted the challenge of stepping up to a bigger level fair,” Christiansen explained.http://www.hubcitytimes.com
As director, Christiansen plans to work for unity while taking opportunities to grow the annual event and prosper as an entity.
“The whole industry I consider as a fair family, and you’re going to have some rough spots in the road with family. Everything is not always smooth sailing. But if we pull together as a family, we will get everyone united and pulled in the same direction,” said Christiansen. “I see unlimited opportunities here.”
Christiansen began as director May 31, 2017.
